Q. Wordpress is currently setup on my newspaper website. However if I install WPMU (mu.wordpress.org/) on a subdomain such as WPMU.example.com, can my editors go there and create their own subdomain blogs without messing up the orginal WP on the main directory?

A. It is possible. Harvard law does it. After enabling subdomains at initial setup: If you have (something).WPMU.example. com it will direct it back to your main domain. (WPMU.example.com) and the apache handler will do the rest. You must however have your DNS set up to allow wildcard domains, which can be tricky if you do not run your own server. PhotoMatt.net has a great tutorial on setting up wildcard subdomains. You can also set it up to be WPMU.example.com/(blognam e) at the initial setup, which does not require wildcard subdomains. Hope that helps.
