Q. What horror film shows what the whole film is all about? It can be anything from disturbed horror, to the blood and guts, slasher type films. Any input at all would be greatly appreciated, thanks. -James

A. A lot of the original slasher posters were quite good and showed what the film was about. Friday the 13th Halloween Not a slasher but Jaws Texas Chainsaw Massacre (this one pretty much shows you flat out what the film will be like) The Birds

What are some horror movies for wimpy people?
Q. My friend and I are planning a horror movie sleepover, but we're both pretty wimpy people who like watching scary movies because we're weird. We could never watch anything as scary as It or The Grudge, but we want to watch things that creep you out like Paranormal Activity or the Orphanage. Does anyone know of any other good horror movies that aren't too scary?

A. You might try... The Others - The Sixth Sense - The Ring - The Skeleton Key - What Lies Beneath - 1408 - Gothika - Identity - "The Orphanage" is a fantastic movie. I really didn't find "The Grudge" all that scary but the movie "It" does creep me out. The book did as well.

A. The best horror trailers ask a question. They set up a premise or a situation, and then leave the viewer wanting to know more. One of the best examples is the original 'Alien' (1979) trailer. The camera splices shots of the film with a long, slow pull back of a large, alien egg. The egg cracks, emitting an eerie glow and the trailer ends with the subscript "In Space, No One Can Hear You Scream." The trailer doesn't really tell us about the characters, doesn't establish much at all. All we know is something horrible is going to come out of that egg, something that makes people screams. We, the audience, want to know what's in that egg. Another common convention is the "What happened to those kids?" question. Quarantine, Wolf Creek, and… [cont.]
